How To Order
HOW CAN I GET A PAIR OF VAN GORKOM CUSTOM HIKING BOOTS MADE FOR ME?
It's simple: Email me with a request for a measuring kit and include your mailing address and phone number.
You may attempt to phone, also, but I live in a remote area of the world, and email is so much more reliable.
Be sure you have read through the information on this website so you don't ask any questions I have already answered.
To make your boots, I need the data the completed measuring kit provides. The measuring kit explains how to measure your feet, make tracings, make footprints and has questions to answer about your previous experience and expectations.
This is not something that can be done by email or over the internet as there is always the danger of distortions, plus, I need actual footprints to work from, and I send you special litmus paper to make them on.
I also send you a measuring tape that matches the one I use, as I have run into problems in the past with measuring tapes not matching up.
This system has evolved and has worked flawlessly from all over the world over many years.
WHEN YOUR MEASURING KIT HAS BEEN RETURNED, YOUR ORDER GOES INTO THE QUE OF BOOTS TO BE MADE.
It is always first come, first served, unless you have paid for a rush order, which is $3,000.
A way you can jump into the que quickly is by sending a $200 deposit to save your place in line while the measuring kit is traveling back and forth in the mail. Figure round trip for the measuring kit is about a month.
MY BACKLOG RIGHT NOW IS ABOUT 6 MONTHS, BUT THIS CAN CHANGE DAILY. (see schedule above, right)

HOW TO PAY FOR YOUR BOOTS
The Boots cost $1600 Canadian dollars. This is easily done using www.paypal.com select "send money" and "canadian dollars" and send to my regular email address:
The $1600 includes all charges including shipping to anywhere in North America. Elsewhere in the world, please add $60
Canadians add 12% HST
All boots must be prepaid before I start cutting the
leather..

I guarantee a good fit (limited only by the accuracy of the data you send me in the measuring kit) along with top quality and workmanship. My reputation has been built on pleasing the customer.
Please note: These are not fashion boots, (I don't guarantee or even control the color of the boots, especially as they age and darken) not casual boots or work boots. You may use them for everything, but I have built them for long miles on and off the trail. The toes of the boots are shaped by the underlying overall shape of your foot. If two or three of your toes are the same length, then the boot toe can take on a "boxy" look. My priority is comfort and durability, not fashion.

For U.S. dollar (personal and international money orders) checks, add 3.5% for bank transaction fees.
Canadians add 12% HST
Outside of North America add $60 for shipping.
